Ann's Story

Ann was walking one day when the air was finally cooling to autumn.  She saw her two friends.  They blocked her path offering cruel words thinly veiled as an inside joke Ann could only be a part of if she remained the butt.  Her brothers later told her, "they aren't your friends.  Friends do not do that."
"Then I've never had friends," Ann thought, and winter came before the leaves fell, and so did her isolation.
Ann fled that town, with its suffocating memories, fled to a city where no on knew her, and she was surprised whenever someone loved her.
