No More

I've made an earth shattering discovery- well, decision really.

I've always wondered why I wasn't getting any where with my writing, like never finishing anything. Never having a first draft to revise and so on. But here I am, working on a story I started I think over six years ago. And when I look back to what the story was then and what it is now, I really need to face the truth:

I'm way past first draft!

I mean, seriously folks! Who ever said I had to get it all written down for it to count as a first draft? I've taken out and moved around, changed so much, killed off characters, ex-ed characters, combined characters, re-vamped plots, added a flippin' quest for crying out loud! When am I going to admit to myself I've been revising all along and the first draft is long gone. It was never intended to see the light day.

So where am I in my progress?

Well, I won't say I'm ready to start the final draft, but I'm not very far from it. I can feel it. For six years or more this story has been with me. I'm finally seeing my characters in the roles I really want for them. It's a wonderful feeling.

  1. That is awesome - I can't think of the story line in it's entirety until I start writing it down. That's when I discover where things are wrong. I wish I could think of it the way you do!

  2. Yeah, I have a TON of notes all over the place to help me keep track. Just not altogether in a draft. But the story has really come together and I'm really like it. So if you're wanting a new fantasy, just you wait!
